Episode 10 Preview: Season Finale!

August 10, 2010

(c) Bravo

It’s hard to believe, but season 1 of “Work of Art” wraps up on Wednesday night at 10 p.m. Eastern/9 Central on Bravo. (Click here to watch this speedy video recap of the season to date).

In the finale, Abdi, Miles and Peregrine will return to their respective homes to create their final pieces, which will then be displayed in an art gala. The winner receives a $100,000 grand prize and earns a solo exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum. (Here’s a sneak peak of Wednesday night’s show.)

Who will win? The hype is building, as evident here, here and here. And it appears that Simon de Pury is Bravo’s latest reality TV star.

Please be sure to join us here as fans and ABN editors post their comments during the show. Also, we’ll have special Q&A interviews with the final three contestants on the blog later in the week, plus additional coverage in future issues of Art Business News.

Can’t wait for tonight! (If only I were in a crowded bar with buds (not Bud). But I’ll be just fine enjoying this at home, with popcorn and a martini.

Honestly? Despite the hits this show has taken from the art world, I think it’s done more good than harm. And it’s been a helluva lot of fun, besides.

So here’s to all of the contestants for being the guinea pigs, and hopefully, they’ll all be better off for having participated in this entertainment experiment.

Completely agreed. We’re looking forward to the outcome. I’m predicting Miles, who, since the first episode, seems to be able to do no wrong in the judges’ eyes, but I’d like to see Abdi take home the top prize.

Our readers seem to be pretty evenly divided on the show, but in the end, any attention to the art market, especially in this challenging economy, seems to be good attention.

Well, time to sit back and see how it all unfolds!

OK fans, who is going to win?

  4. August 11, 2010 7:06 pm

OK, I think Simon’s right: Peregrine’s piece is a bit too much. Personally, I find it a bit creepy. I’m also wondering how she made it to the top three…

Abdi’s work seems to have much more meaning and insight. It doesn’t seem like Simon agrees, though. I can’t wait to see how his piece comes together.

It’s pretty cool to meet all the artists’ families and find out more about their influences.

OK, Peregrine’s work is growing on me now. She might have a shot at this after all.

Ug – I can’t bear to watch Abdi’s piece fall apart. I hope he can pull it together!

All 3 projects look promising…what will the judges think?

Midway through the episode, I’m predicting Peregrine as the winner. Her work seems the most insightful and intriguing. I’m not sure Miles and Abdi have pulled it off this time.

As much as I want Abdi to win, his sculptures have me worried. Peregrine’s is bright and colorful, but will that be enough to take the win?

Wow – now that we’ve gone through every show, they’re all extremely impressive. This is going to be a tough call. Each artist pulled out all the stops.

Sounds like the judges are certain on this one…

  16. August 11, 2010 7:57 pm

Wow – Miles voted off – that was a shocker!

  17. August 11, 2010 7:59 pm

The ABN editors are cheering right now. Great decision on Abdi!
